Learn how to handle common Microsoft Outlook permission issues when integrating with Quil.
Scopes and Permissions
Quil requires the follow scopes for the Microsoft Outlook extension
- openid
- offline_access
- Calendars.Read
- User.Read
Quil's integration with Microsoft Outlook requires a specific permission scope called "Calendars.Read". In most cases this permission is set to be a low impact permission meaning normal users are allowed to approve applications requesting it.
Depending on how the Tenant is setup, the "Calendars.Read" may require Admin approvals.
Option 1: Admin Approvals
When connecting a Microsoft Outlook calendar to Quil you may be prompted for "Admin Approval". This typically requires a justification message message and an approval by your IT admin.
Updates may take a few minutes to reflect after the admin approves the request.
Option 2: Updating Permissions for Calendars.Read
Occasionally the "Admin Approval" flow may not work well for some teams for various reasons. If that is the case for you we suggest updating Entra's permission list to classify Calendars.Read as a "low impact" permission. This will allow normal team members to allow the integration without an IT admin.
If you wish to update your permissions, this must be done via Entra by an IT admin.

If you continue to have issues after adding Calendars.Read as a low impact permissions you may require adding Quil's other scopes as "low impact" as well.
